Roses Bloom

8"x10" Oil on 1/8" canvas panel

Love red roses… when I got this bouquet of red roses, I was on a roll and started to paint them in different vases and angles. Initially I was not too jazzed about the colors of my background, but I let it sit on my easel for few days; and it kind of grew on me. Do you feel that a different colored background would have worked better? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Happy Roses

I am extremely pleased w/ this painting.  It was done fairly quickly and all the roses though placed in a single vase appear to have their own beautiful personality.

Single Bloom

4"x4" Oil on 1/8" smooth finish Artist Panel

My kind hearted friend loaned me this cute turquoise mini vase. Isn’t it adorable? I thought it was just perfect for my single bloom that I had seen on my patio. Although, I still think I should have done this painting on a slightly bigger panel. Anyhow!!!

Blue boat

6"x8" Oil on 1/4" canvas texture Artist Panel

This plein air painting was done on a rainy day. It was overcast that afternoon when I started to paint this boat, so I had to work fairly quickly. I would like to express a heartfelt thank you to our Local seafood restaurant, for allowing artists to come and paint at their location. I plan to visit them soon and paint some more. Happy painting!!

Red Apples

Today I thought I will do a story board of my process of painting. So here it goes Once upon a time there were 2 gorgeous red apples that fell out of a brown paperback…

Not really. When the pictures were placed together of the process it was kind of fun to see life appear on a black board. Hope you enjoyed and try some of your own painting adventure. Let me know if you do.

And oh yes, if you like what you see here you are allowed to shout it out on Facebook.

8"x8" Oil on 1/4" canvas texture Artist Panel

I am super thrilled about the way this painting turned out. I worked from a reference photo that I took on a bright sunny day. This painting makes me crave for the warm sun, the sea breeze and sound of the waves…. Go Sailing!!!

Collage

I have taken up the 30 day challenge on Leslie Saeta's blog. Today's task is to create a collage of our work. I created the following collage on the www.ipiccy.com website...

You can get really creative with your personal photographs. Give your creativity a chance. Works included in the collage are either posted on my website (http://nikitapaints.weebly.com) or on this blog.

Eggplant and Garlic - SOLD

4"x6" Oil on 1/4" canvas texture Artist Panel

Sometimes I can spend a lot of time thinking of a subject matter to paint, but not with this painting. I had worked on a painting earlier that day and had just enough time with daylight to paint a small one. I saw the freshly bought eggplant on the kitchen counter and there was no second thought on what to paint. Hence the eggplant and garlic composition fell in place.

Boats in shade

6"x8" Oil on 1/4" canvas texture Artist Panel

The subject photo I took for this painting was taken a local marina. The rays from the sun and the shadows of the trees created a play of light and shadow on the covered boats. I quiet like that and I tried to capture the calm peaceful time in the shade.
